{"id":2767,"date":"2018-05-28T17:38:13","date_gmt":"2018-05-28T17:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hisaproject.org\/?p=2767"},"modified":"2019-03-25T19:40:14","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T19:40:14","slug":"the-birth-of-a-project-in-french-guyana-on-coexistence-man-big-cats-april-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hisaproject.org\/?p=2767&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"New project in French Guyana on Coexistence Man &#8211; big cats &#8211; April 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the rural development and the increasing urbanization of French Guyana, the negative interactions between the Jaguar and the Puma and breeding activities are more frequent on the littoral: on the one hand, because of lack of effective means to protect their livestock, retaliation shots on problematic individuals are a common measure used by farmers to solve the problem. On the other hand, the repeated attacks of the two big cats can really threaten some farms.<\/p>\n<p>In font of this, HISA has been heavily involved since last October to set up a multi-partnership project with local structures to better understand the situation and propose alternative measures to farmers to ensure the sustainable coexistence between livestock farming and the preservation of big cats.
